Seminary Graduation

Great-grandpa Domsch graduated from the Hermansburg Institute August 2, 1889. It's in Germany in the town of the same name and is there to this day! You'll find him in the picture, the very middle and to the left, with the beard. Why the boat? Because they were trained to be missionaries outside of Germany.

  2. Please tell us the history of the photograph showing men at the institute.

My own ancestors settled near Dunksburg. I was recently surprised to find that my grandson is descended from Karl Domsch, through Dunker. I'm interested in more biography of Karl and pictures from his era. What was the name of Karl's Dunksburg Church and are there records?

    1. The photo was from my grandmother Lydia, daughter of Karl Domsch. Your grandson would be a descendant of Marie, Lydia's oldest sister, who married Herman Dunker. I have never found the church name or records - would love to have both!
